About the TIDE project

The purpose of TIDE is to support people with an intellectual disability to access development education.

Development education focuses on global and development issues, with the aim of raising awareness of how global issues affect our everyday lives. It is about teaching and learning awareness of issues related to development, the environment and sustainability.

TIDE will support young adults with an intellectual disability to become active global citizens and engage in key development education issues, based on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG's). Specifically we will look at:

  • Eradicating poverty and hunger
  • The right to (primary) education
  • Gender equality world wide
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Global partnership for development

TIDE project partners in Italy, Hungary, Finland and Wales will deliver workshops looking at these issues to a small group of young adults in each country. Based on our experiences from those workshops and feedback from the group, we will develop resources to be used for development education that are inclusive and accessible.
